Rev. Jesse W. Plater, Senior Pastor

Reverend Jesse W. Plater is the Senior Pastor of the one hundred and fourteen year old, Alexander Memorial Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, MD.

 

Reverend Plater has served as the Senior Pastor of the Alexander Memorial Baptist Church since December 2005. He is married to the former Santo E. Smith of Calvert County, Maryland. Their family consist of three sons, one daughter, two daughter in-law, one son in-law, five granddaughters, four

grandsons and one great granddaughter.

 

In 1989, Reverend Plater joined the Galilee Baptist Church in Washington, DC where the late Reverend Dr. Eugene Weathers was Pastor. He was ordained as a Deacon at Galilee in 1992 and served faithfully until God called him to the preaching ministry in 1996. On April 5, 2003, Reverend Plater was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel at Galilee by Reverend Dr. Lloyd T.

McGriff. He faithfully and honorably served as an Associate Minister until God called him to pastor the Alexander Memorial Baptist Church in December 2005. Reverend Plater was officially installed on March 5, 2006 as Pastor of Alexander Memorial Baptist Church.

 

Reverend Plater has been honored as one of the top 20 Pastors at the 11th Annual Prayer and Praise Breakfast sponsored by PRAISE 104.1 (2013); Pastor of the Week on Radio One WYCB 1340AM (2006) and featured in the “Gospel Today” magazine (October 2007 issue) as one of the “World’s Most Loved Pastors”. He served as the keynote speaker for the U.S. Custom and

Border Protection Black History Month celebration in February 2011.

Reverend Plater has a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts in Biblical Leadership from Lancaster Bible College.
